rush Guide
Excited about rushing Mixed Co? Read this guide, and you'll be well on your way towards having a successful audition!
Your Audition
Auditions may seem daunting, but don't worry! We've got you covered. Our musical director, Drew Kim, has put together this handy audition outline so you'll know what you're getting into. No surprises here!
Scales
We will use a variety of vocal warm-ups (and downs) to explore your range. This will help us determine where your voice would best fit into our group. You can also think of this time as a personal warm-up for the rest of your audition!
Ear Training
We’ll ask you to sing back a few melodies played on piano — trust your ear and see what you can do!
Blending
You’ll have an opportunity to sing with REAL LIVE MEMBERS OF MIXED COMPANY — please prepare the passage from "You’re All I Need” available for download on the right. Choose whichever of the parts (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, or Bass) you're most comfortable with.
Solo
Please prepare a short solo (about 45 seconds to 1 minute) of your choosing. Any style is welcome — pick something you're comfortable with that will allow you to showcase your voice at its best!

The Music Team
Drew and Emily form this year's musical leadership, and they are the ones you will interact most with during your auditions and callbacks. Check out their bios on our members page!
Here's their advice for you:
"First and foremost, your audition should be fun! Don’t stress about finding the ‘perfect song’ that shows off every last note of your range. Just pick something you love and that you feel great singing — and let your personality shine through! Don’t forget, we’re rooting for you!" - Drew
"Auditions aren’t about hitting a high enough note or getting every rhythm perfect, we just want to get to know you as a performer. Being comfortable in your voice, working hard, and having fun are just as important as technical skills, so sing whatever you love to sing and come prepared to be yourself!" - Emily
